RA DOMINI Ra Domini ³The dominant light of the Sun², an appropriate name for this U.K. born producer, whose production shines on every level. Ra Domini best describes his sound as ²Futuristic Vintage² - the soulful vintage substance of songs of old, with the fresh innovations of the technological future. Ra Domini blends shredded rock guitar, mellow acoustic guitar licks, soulful Rhodes keys, pumping techno beats, reggae dub bass lines, plenty of old and new school hip hop elements, soaring synthesizer pads, chamber quartet string arrangements and merges them with an artistic intelligence never before seen. ![]()
Ra Domini began his production career in London England, at the age of 12, selling mix tapes at school. Ra created the mix-tapes at home on two unmatched turntables and an analog 4-track tape recorder. This equipment came courtesy of his Mother, who had used part of a bank loan to purchase the equipment for his twelfth birthday. But Ra Domini is the first to admit that he is truly a child of the digital age, after receiving his digital initiation on the famed EMU SP12 sampling drum machine. Clad in his trademark Levisı and Adidas, Ra explains, ³The SP12 was my first love, ³I literally slept with that thing to the point where I could program it with my eyes closed. The gritty bit sound and limited memory forced your creativity and arrangement skills to the absolute limits.² The 1990ıs saw Ra Domini graduate from schoolyard mix-tapes to becoming the founding member and main M.C. of the U.K. rap group Scientists of Sound. Ra Domini then billed as Aybee released records on such U.K. underground labels as Bite This Records, and Downlow Entertainment. The Scientists of Sound went on to tour with Busta Rhymes and R. Kelly as well as headlining their own tour. Scientists of Soundıs shows included the infamous ³Subterranea² club in West London, where they were sponsored by Cult comic book series '2000 AD', HOT '97 FM, and legendary DJ Stretch Armstrong. In 1996, Ra Domini produced the remix of 'I'm Your Man" by the artist Lisa Moorish (Island Records) featuring George Michael and Scientists of Sound. The new millennium brought a change for Ra Domini as he moved stateside and set up producing and writing in Atlanta, GA. Currently, Ra Domini works out of his Atlanta based Digital Domain Studios, where he has amassed a vast catalog of material. Some of his recent credits have included writing/producing/remixing for Jojo (Universal Records), Blaze (Koch/Big Oomp Records) and DJ Toompıs NZONE Entertainment Group (Kanye West). Most recently, Ra Domini is working on writing, producing for various recording artist as well as music for television, feature films, multi-media and games.
